Toys You Cannot Buy

Here's another cartoon.

It ocurred to me that the Action Man (GI Joe for our US friends?) is missing a trick.  You can get all kinds of costumes for him - but not, I suspect, the one in the cartoon below.

Perhaps, there's a series here.  Roman Catholic Chaplain, Rabbi Chaplain, dare I say Muslim Chaplain (mind you, that's a toy that's not getting made any time soon - no images of humans allowed and Action Man is just that).

  2. I had an action man once. I was never sure what to do with him once I'd been given him. I certainly never had an outfit for him as interesting as this one.

  3. Dominic, the thing with Action Man was to play with others that had one, I think. I had my brother's cast-off one, complete with taped-up broken legs, when he got his new one. we used to play war games in the back garden, although the fox-holes we dug for them in the lawn were not very appealing to my parents.

  4. LOL - I love it! If I'd been aware of such things as Army Chaplains when I was a kid I would totally have had church with my brother's GI Joe. He was always hanging my Barbies by their feet so they could be rescued, so turnabout it fair play, right?

  5. do they still do action man?

If so then surely it's more than time for IT Support Action man? Call Centre Advisor Action Man? Pointless Celebrity Gameshow Contestant Action Man?

  6. Bug - Your brother was mean to treat Barbie like that! You should totally have played church with his GI Joe - or made him a conscientious objector suit!

    Titus - Many thanks.

DFTP - Yes, there is still an Action Man (or was last time I looked) and he now has nipples, which he never had in my day. He doesn't have boy bits though, which is probably just as well. I like the idea of all the other roles for AM: how about homeless druggie with post traumatic stress related mental health problems Iraq veteral Action Man? A real winner I think.
